Rave parties are the new rage in Coimbatore and Kanchipuram districts of Tamil Nadu
Agri Nest Resorts, built on agricultural land near Sethumadai, near Pollachi was witness to a large number of arrests on May 5, 2019. About 160 people were arrested from the resort, which was functioning without permission from the authorities.
Around 150 college students had arrived at the resort in answer to a call for a rave party. Most of these students were from Kerala.
Police, who raided the place based on a complaint from neighbouring farmers who found the noise from the resort deafening, found ganja and ecstasy pills. The police teams arrived in plain clothes and raided the resort, also arresting the owner, one Ganesh.
On May 6, in a separate incident, another 160 persons were arrested at a resort in Mamallapuram in Kanchipuram district. Among the arrested were seven women and a number of narcotic substances were recovered during the raid of Odour Resort situated close to the beach.
Those arrested were largely college-going students who had responded to an online invitation and registered to participate in the party.
